Candidates for bariatric surgery through our office must meet the following minimum criteria.  However, a complete evaluation is required before we can make a final determination.

1. You must be morbidly obese
   • BMI between 40 - 60 or
   • BMI between 35 - 39 with hypertension, diabetes, or sleep apnea
2. Age 18 – 60
3. You must have quit cigarette smoking for at least 3 months or not be a smoker
4. You must have tried other diet and exercise programs in the past to lose weight
5. You must have been morbidly obese for the last 3-6 years
6. You must be motivated and committed to life long follow-up in our office, and to leading a healthy eating and exercise lifestyle.
